February is American Heart Month

February’s American Heart Month observance is almost here and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) and The Heart Truth® program invite you to join us in encouraging people across the country to reduce their risk for heart disease. A healthy lifestyle that includes regular physical activity, smart eating, maintaining a healthy weight, managing stress, sleeping better, and not smoking can substantially lower the risk of heart disease.

This year’s theme — “Our hearts are healthier together” — encourages Americans to join with others to make lifestyle changes that are heart healthy and long lasting. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle can be challenging, but research has shown that having strong social support can make it easier to stay motivated and reach health goals.
