Scientific Core Service Awards

  • The Cardiopulmonary Vascular Biology (CPVB) COBRE seeks applicants for Scientific Core Service Awards to foster your research, publications and grants. No award will be issued for more than $5,000. You can check the services available here.

Vouchers can only be awarded to investigators in IDeA states. The IDeA States are composed of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the following 23 states: Alaska, Arkansas, Delaware, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

  • Research must be conducted in an IDeA state to be eligible for this voucher.
  • current date or later
  •
  • Voucher Guidelines:

    • Application can not be saved once it has been started.
    • Voucher-supported projects may be initiated only after a voucher application is approved by the CPVB directors, and both applicant and Core director/manager have received official notice of award.
    • You must consult with scientific core staff about your project to obtain a quote for requested services. The quote must be included in your application.
    • Priority will be given to investigators who are unfunded or can provide matching funds.
    • Voucher applications requesting >$1,000 must provide an itemized budget in the Project Details section. Items in the voucher budget beyond fees charged by the core, such as supplies and small equipment necessary to accomplish the project, will be purchased by the core manager and are core property. Voucher funds should not be used to purchase supplies or small equipment that are intended for use in the client’s laboratory.
    • Applicants are eligible to receive one voucher from the CPVB COBRE.
    • Applicant is agreeing to cite the CPVB COBRE award in any publications arising from the use of this core. This is essential for continued support of the core by the Ocean State Research Institute (OSRI) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). NIH suggested citation: Research reported in this publication was supported by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences of the National Institutes of Health under Award Number P20GM103652.
    • Voucher funds are awarded by fiscal year and expire on May 31, or sooner following 60 days of inactivity without notice.
    • Funds are awarded on a first come, first served basis. Approval of requests is subject to availability of funds.
    • There are 3 application cycles. Deadlines are September 1, 2021, December 10, 2021 and March 31, 2022.
    • Applicants must complete application at least 10 business days before the 1st of the month they would like to begin the work. Late applications will be deferred to the following month.
    • Shipping materials to and from the client will be paid for by the client.
I have read and agree to all terms, conditions, and responsibilities for using a CPVB Core Facility and expenses I may incur. Furthermore, I agree to acknowledge CPVB and the associated core facility for any and all work that may result from my use of the CPVB core facility.
